David Burgstahler was a co-founding partner at Avista Healthcare Partners between 2005 and 2016. Drawing on his experience at DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, he played a foundational role in the development of the organization’s investment strategy and long-term vision, particularly its emphasis on transformation and operational depth within high-growth, product-oriented health care markets. In 2009, David Burgstahler assumed the role of company president, a position he also held through 2016. His tenure as president included a comprehensive refinement of operations and business strategy, which allowed for continued growth and operational success.
Following his time as president, Mr. Burgstahler moved into the position of managing partner and chief executive officer at Avista Healthcare Partners. He has continued to lead the company in areas of strategic direction and operational governance. His time in this leadership role has been defined by advanced succession planning via the advancement of next-generation innovators.
Mr. Burgstahler holds a master of business administration from Harvard and an aerospace engineering degree from the University of Kansas. His personal interests include playing tennis and offshore fishing.
